This is a small-footprint desktop document scanner with built-in ADF. Related models: Xerox Documate 252, Kodak i40. Compare: Canon DR-2080C.
Up to 600x1200 dpi, 48-bit internal color.
Scans B&W, gray & RGB, 8 or 16 bits/channel, up to 8.5" x 14", simplex.
USB 1.1 or 2.0, 50 page ADF.

known issues: We almost like this scanner, and considering our opinion of Visioneer, that's saying a lot. Apparently, Avision is the actual designer and presumed manufacturer.

"It is the perfect tool for business users who are buried in paper they need to scan and store quickly." Maybe... but be aware of the 1 minute warm-up time if the scanner hasn't been used recently, a drawback not shared by the Canon DR-2080C. To put things in perspective, the 450 has a functional output tray which the Canon lacks, and the Canon features a software pop-up 'control panel' that violates the TWAIN standard, irritates our staff, and seriously reduces the suitability of the Canon for fully automated TWAIN applications.

Bug: B&W documents scanned in Native mode come through with black & white reversed. (EZTwain 3.05b28 and above contains a work-around for this.) Scanning in grayscale using Native mode, the 2nd and subsequent pages are blank - Workaround: Use memory transfer mode.
